I had been practising physical theatre for many years when I encountered Roy Hart’s work in 1998, and it never left me – it was a revelation. We can give voice and expression to everything that lives within us, our thoughts, our images, our dreams, our feelings, our voices, our sounds and our melodies: everything is welcome. It is a process of liberation that helps us discover, explore and integrate our various aspects, even the contradictory ones.

Lutz Pickardt, born in 1965, is a freelance director, physical theatre, drama and voice teacher affiliated with the Roy Hart Centre. For 35 years, he has been leading projects, workshops and training courses with national, transcultural and international groups throughout Germany and Europe (France, Hungary, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, etc.).

He undertakes a variety of projects relating to voice training, drama, mask theatre and physical theatre. He gives lectures and workshops on the creation of conferences, in the world of education and the arts. Numerous productions in the fields of theatre, voice, dance and video art, founder and long-standing director of Theatre Dionysos, a community theatre company at the Marl Theatre (D).

Lutz Pickardt has studied with Jonathan Hart-Makwaia, Kevin Crawford, Richard Armstrong, Edda Heeg, Ian Magilton, and Carol Mendelsohn.
He speaks German and English.
