Marya is a Boston-based actor and voice trainer. For over forty years she has taught actors, singers, and teachers across Europe including the UK, France, Greece, Cyprus, Poland, and Italy as well as in Canada and the U.S.A.
Grounded in solid research of global vocal lamentation practices, she is a pioneer in vocal lamentation and is the creator of “The Unboundaried Voice: from Laughter to Lament” for theatre research and performance. An award-winning actor, her theatre performances include classics, experimental, original creative works, and narration. She is a founding member and resident actor with Boston’s Actors’ Shakespeare Project. Vocal direction for theatre includes Broadway, Shakespeare Festivals and American Regional Theatres. She is a mentor to incarcerated women since 2002.
Marya began her Roy Hart training in 1990, performing, training, and teaching at Malérargues since 1992.
She has trained with Carol Mendelsohn, Saule Ryan, David Goldsworthy, Jonathan Hart Makwaia, Linda Wise, and Marita Gunther.
She teaches in English.
