– Explore the tools and principles of instant composition.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed:
– physical skills that support vocal mastery, including breath, vocal engagement, projection, resonance, and vocal space.
– an understanding of the vocabulary and concepts associated with instant composition.
– their ability to express themselves through emotional expressivity, creativity, and imagination.

COURSE CONTENT
This six-day workshop unfolds as a journey toward musical inspiration. Each stage of the process invites participants to deepen their self-awareness, recognize their strengths, and expand their capacity for vocal improvisation.

Each day begins with physical and vocal preparation, followed by a balance of individual work, small-group sessions, and full-group exploration. Practical work with compositional tools is interwoven with vocal exploration, while periods of focused research alternate with playful and creative activities. This structure allows the facilitators to guide participants gradually and supportively toward greater ease and confidence in instant composition.

Throughout the six days, participants will have the opportunity to explore intuitive listening, the role of silence, musical and expressive contrast, rhythm and pulse, developing artistic intention, melody, singing in unison, counterpoint Gibberish and invented languages, breath-opening techniques, emotional awareness and sensory perception, images, stories, and material emerging from the imagination.
Together, these tools and approaches enable each participant to cultivate and nourish their musical inspiration at their own pace.

TEACHING METHODS
The workshop takes place in person and combines presentation-based, participatory, and experiential learning approaches through:
– Collective “laboratory” research sessions
– Practical explorations and performance situations
– Individual inquiry and self-directed learning
– Small-group work and participant feedback sessions
– Guidance, exercises, and personalized feedback from the facilitators

LEARNING RESOURCES
– Dedicated studio and workshop spaces
– Floor mats

ASSESSMENT METHODS
– Assessment is integrated throughout the workshop and includes:
– Practical explorations and creative applications throughout the workshop
– Observation of participants’ ability to respond to individualized directions and creative prompts
– A final presentation at the end of the workshop
– Individual and group reflections, discussions, and feedback sessions

I imagine teaching voice as accompanying someone on his or her journey into the self, which in turn opens him or her to the world. I guide individuals and groups on a creative journey to develop intuitive listening by awakening body and sensory awareness, thus opening an inner space for aesthetic, emotional and musical landscapes. It’s magical when a student feels the presence of something greater than himself and exclaims: ‘It feels like it’s not me singing!’

I help create the conditions which allow students’ vocal potential to emerge, while starting from who they really are. I rely on those paramount human qualities, which are for me listening, respect, kindness and empathy. I encourage students to go further, to explore releasing their fears and resistance, to venture into unknown territories. I help them to release their voice, so that it resonates throughout their entire body.
