“From the beginning, I have only danced my life.” – Isadora Duncan
Our voice, too, is sensitive to context. It also has things to express, to sing, whisper, scream… and to dance. This workshop arises from the need to allow our voices to express themselves with all their possibilities and limits; with all their dreams and desires. Through the expressive coupling of voice and movement and work that combines technique and imagination, we invite our voice to embody a vocal dance. Isadora Duncan used to say “to dance is to express one’s inner life”. The voice also offers us this possibility, a space of research to find our vocal personality and the public intimacy of our voice.
We will work in particular on three axes, exploring the links between:
- The body and the voice;
- Musicality, singing and vocal improvisation;
- Voice and speech.
The workshop will include physical preparation, dance and a strong emphasis on individual and collective vocal exploration, leading to moments of instantaneous composition of song and text.
