Workshop description:

THE UNHEARD VOICE is a workshop where we will explore the hidden voices we carry inside of us: those voices which didn’t fit in or weren’t welcome in the socio-cultural milieu of our lives. Discovering and revealing these voices allows us a whole new range of possibilities of expression, both in performance and in life. We’ll create a listening space for unexpected meetings, where we will welcome whatever voices emerge from the unheard depths.

We’ll follow the paths of the stories these voices reveal. We’ll weave together their emerging myths and archetypes in solo and group improvised compositions, creating music, theatre and dance. The workshop comprises both individual and group work. Sessions will include body-voice work, movement and vocal exploration, intuitive writing, and will nurture the development of musicality and spatial awareness.

The workshop will be taught in English and French. Other possible languages: Dutch, Italian, German.

My identity is my biography and my voice expresses that. Coming from a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic family (Indonesian-Dutch), I was challenged to discover my own identity. Since 1981 the Roy Hart Theatre work been most powerful means to this end. I’m deeply moved each and every time a person discovers the beauty of their own unique voice. After that, the process of integration can begin. To be a guiding companion on that road is a great gift and the core of my teaching.

Being human is a wide realm of being, with manifold dimensions and interconnections.  Listening to the voice as the extending bridge between our inner and outer worlds, is for me listening to these manifold dimensions and interconnections. To let them emerge, breathe and expand in each passage from one to the other is the process of exploration of the infinite variety of possibilities of being, touching and encountering oneself and the otherness, within oneself and in the world around. I see voice exploration and expression as a profound experience of contact with the mystery of life and the unknown, a journey of research and discovery, a generative ground for awareness, trans-forma(c)tion and creativity.

Workshop registration

  • Registration for the workshop is confirmed only after receipt of deposit. A deposit of 120 euros for short-term workshops (week and weekend), 300 € for longer ones (4 weeks and year groups), and 700 € (for some workshops with several modules) is required.

  • You can pay by CB or bank transfer. If you pay by bank transfert please pay your deposit within four days or enrolment will be automatically cancelled.

  • If you are unable to make an online payment, please write to us here or call +33 466 85 45 98. Our office is open 10 :00 a.m. – 5 :00 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

  • The remaining balance of the fee must be paid before the beginning of the workshop (payment instructions will be sent in the confirmation email). In case of non-payment before the workshopse, you will have to pay on arrival at Malérargues by credit card, cheque or cash.

  • In the event of low enrolment, the centre reserves the right to cancel a workshop and any deposit can be transferred to another workshop, or fully refunded.

  • You can cancel your registration within one month before the start date of the workshop. A €30 administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations. We regret that deposits are non-refundable within 30 days of the first day of a workshop.

  • Workshop fees do not include meals. Two common kitchens are available for the participants of the internships. They are reserved in priority to the interns housed in the lodgings. A fridge is available for trainees who are present all day in the changing rooms.

Membership

The Centre Roy Hart is an association under French law and all participants in the workshop must therefore be members. The annual membership fee is 30€ for the calendar year. This fee is added to your registration if you are not a member for the current year.
