One of the Roy Hart Theatre founding members, Margaret Pikes has been a voice teacher internationally for more than 50 years.
After participating in the early Roy Hart Theatre productions, Margaret continued as a professional singer of many genres from jazz to chanson Française. She sang as the soloist in the ‘Canto General’ for many years.
She lived in Togo, West Africa for six years singing regularly with the jazz trio ‘Anima’. She toured among others with Michelle Bernard in « Des Nuits Noires de Monde », with Smith Dancetheatre in ‘Agnes and Walter: A Little Love Story’ as well as with her own one-woman shows of French songs and texts. She was an honorary research fellow at Manchester University. More detail of her 50 years of experience can be found in her book written with Dr Patrick Campbell.
Margaret Pikes has worked with Roy Hart, Dorothy Hart, Robert Harvey, Liza Mayer, Kaya Anderson and Barry Coghlan.
She speaks English, French and German.
