In this workshop, elements of Contact Dance will be integrated into the Roy Hart Centre voice work. Both approaches focus on listening with confidence to our body, to others and to the space around us. This enables dialogue without words, but with our voices and bodies – alone, as a duo, and in chorus.
We can sing, sound, dance, and improvise in physical contact with others, with respect for the “yes” and “no” in the contact. We will deepen the awareness of body sensations, listen to our bodily impulses, and each explore our own voice.
We will discover how body movements impact vocal expression and vice versa.
We will sing to those dancing and dance for those singing, developing listening and musicality. Each day will include warm-ups, small group piano work, and creative sessions. On Saturday evening we will have a jam session with sounds, dance, and music.
