Workshop description:

What does it mean to be in a song? Are you guiding the song or are you seduced by it? How can you move a song and transform it? How can you become one with your song and embody it more? How can you be moved by a song? How can you move the one who listens? How can you let the body, the physical sensations, the imagination, the space, the group, influence your way of singing and free your vocal expression?

In the morning, we will explore the landscape of the human voice with a warm-up to prepare the body to sing. We will open the voice and find different colours, develop the art of listening to others and yourself, look for dynamic sources of sounds, and develop your vocal expression. In the afternoon, we will work on one song that you have brought with you and learned by heart, and we will explore the expression, the connection with it, and different ways of approaching it in order to find emotion and ease in singing.

I help create the conditions which allow students’ vocal potential to emerge, while starting from who they really are. I rely on those paramount human qualities, which are for me listening, respect, kindness and empathy. I encourage students to go further, to explore releasing their fears and resistance, to venture into unknown territories. I help them to release their voice, so that it resonates throughout their entire body.

My philosophy keeps changing as I walk deeper into the forest of myself/voice. It has been for me: – a place to express my needs, to be happy, to be wild, to be aware of my patterns, to BREATHE and going deep by opening my arms, my voice, my soul... – a path to be: sometimes I sing, sometimes I listen, sometimes I listen while singing, sometimes I sing while listening… And now, it's an unknown - being created while being in it - which invites me to disappear, melting myself in other's voices. Flowing with others, going towards ... a sea?
